NORM/TENORM Identification, Sampling, and Disposal Support for LNG Operations

NORM / TENORM Field Campaign

Radiological Survey and TENORM Management for LNG Cargo Tanks

RADXION Radiation Services LLC successfully executed a complete NORM/TENORM survey and waste characterization campaign for an LNG vessel facility, focused on internal cargo tank radiological assessment, identification of suspect TENORM residues, and safe management of generated radioactive waste. This project reflects our capability to deliver high-risk confined-space radiological work with strong HSE control, defensible data quality, and regulatory-aligned outputs for the LNG and oil & gas sector across the UAE/GCC.

01

Scope of Work

Radiological surveys inside LNG cargo tanks

Confined space entry to identify any NORM/TENORM contaminated residues/materials.

Dose rate and contamination screening

Using calibrated instruments and defined action levels.

Sampling of residues/waste matrices

E.g., sludge/scale/solids, using controlled methods (composite/aliquot as applicable).

Waste segregation, temporary containment, and safe handling

Of any suspect TENORM material collected during survey activities.

Data recording and documentation

Locations, readings, drum IDs, sample IDs, field notes, and chain-of-custody.

02

Safety & Regulatory Compliance

Work executed under a controlled Radiation Protection Program with strong HSE and confined-space compliance (toolbox talks, entry permits, gas testing interface, PPE controls, contamination checks)

Calibrated radiation detection equipment used with traceable performance verification and documented field checks

Radiological decision-making aligned with ALARA principles to reduce exposure and prevent spread of contamination

Outputs structured to support regulatory readiness and client compliance obligations (UAE/GCC best practice and IAEA-aligned approaches)

03

Outcome

Full Tank CoverageSurvey Campaign Completed
  • Completed internal cargo tank radiological survey coverage with clear identification of any suspect TENORM residues/materials
  • Generated defensible survey datasets (dose rate / screening results) suitable for client reporting and decision-making
  • Collected and prepared representative samples for laboratory gamma characterization and waste classification
  • Delivered survey summary, sampling records, waste tracking logs, and documentation to support downstream disposal planning / call-off profiling
